Selecting Software That Promotes Best Onboarding Practices

To understand software options and how they relate to onboarding practices, it’s important to understand everything the term covers. There is the transactional side that addresses all your new hire paperwork and compliance. Then, there is the acculturation aspect which includes training, orientation, and ensuring the employee becomes a productive part of your team. Here are ways to address both sides of the equation: Transactional Onboarding Always use intelligent automation. Some onboarding systems just move your existing forms and procedures online in a patchwork of disconnected fragments. They don’t streamline the workflow and integrate it with your other business processes. Choose software that is designed to improve compliance (and save time) as part of its core function - not an afterthought. For example, a good onboarding system will always provide you with the most up-to-date version of each state and federal form. Acculturation Onboarding For acculturation, ensure that your new hires are using the same communication platform as the rest of your workforce whenever possible. If you already have a system such as SharePoint, take advantage of it! Adding a separate socialization portal for new employees when they could simply become familiar with your existing system just makes things more complicated. Purchase additional services when you need to develop more complex systems such as a customized training and development modules. |
